This piece was painted with a combined abstract and expressionist styles, creating a contemporary take on a long practiced subject matter. Acrylic washes in the background create a textural sky line and an added depth. The differentiation of the foreground is developed by using thick impasto paints, with a palette knife and a large brush for added texture. Additional textures are created from materials and techniques such as newspaper, string imprint and drip painting techniques. Interpreted from photographic images taken by myself.
